When I first learned that Iyanla Vanzant would be having her own show on OWN, I was overjoyed! Anytime I would see her appear on the Oprah show, I always found whatever she said to be helpful and healing. Whether just by sharing her own story or helping someone personally with their struggle, Iyanla’s gift for healing others always shines through. Even the wisdom Iyanla shares through social networking to her followers is always very on point and inspiring! I salute her and am grateful that she finally has the platform she has always wanted- her own show!

That Iyanla Vanzant is the author of the “Black Girls Rock!” Pledge? BGR is a non-profit youth empowerment and mentoring organization based in New York. From this program, came the creation of the ‘Black Girls Rock!” Awards Show which airs on B.E.T. It  highlights inspiring black girls and women while encouraging women everywhere to be the best they can be! Iyanla was honored by BGR and presented with the “Motivator Award” at the awards show in 2010. This year will be the 7th annual BGR Awards Show- make sure you tune in! (day and time TBD)
