YOU’RE PRETTY… FOR A BLACK GIRL
I have never heard this but who has?
What was the context and who said it? Let’s chat!
I normally don’t post videos but this is SOOOOOO TRUE. MUST WATCH!
wow..she was talked down on for being pretty to be “dark - skinned” I found this very interesting.. must watch
A big misconception people have about darker skinned women is that they cannot wear bright lipsticks. Some women shy away from certain colors because they think they’ll look silly & some people will even say out of ignorance that certain colors don’t “look right” on darker skin. (SOME, not ALL),
The trick is, ladies, to find the right shade to complement your skin tone. So you could just have the perfect red, pink, orange or purple lipstick waiting for you but you haven’t had the courage to discover it yet!
So experiment with different shades with the cheap brands of lipstick(that’s what I did) & when you feel comfortable enough that the color suits you, even getting honest opinions from family and friends, then invest in a more quality brand of that same shade.
Here are some articles about lipcolor & darker skinned women I found to be interesting & that may help you decide which color you want to try:

« Go ahead little Mahogany child, with hair coiled tight like mine. Dare to dream “Ivy League” dreams! I will not apologize for shining out front so that you can see YOU in me… in my full nose and lips… in my natural hair and broad hips. See YOU in me and apply… change is definitely worth fighting for, and it ONLY happens when we chocolates, and cafe con leches are visible, so that more applicants of color keep pressure on the door… »
My little cousins whispering about something. What it is, I have no idea. But children are entitled to secrets, are they not?

http://livelovekayla.tumblr.com/ - i hated being dark skinned as a kid, and even as a preteen i was too shy to talk to boys because i thought they wouldn’t like me because i was dark skinned. now i’ve gotten over my shyness because of my skin color and accepted myself the way i was made: a beautiful brown skinned girl. if someone doesn’t like you because of your skin color, clearly they aren’t worth it in the first place. “conquer your shyness, believe in your flyness.” - kanye west
